Rock Ridge High School Athletic Booster Club (RRHSABC) Scholarship Application
Dear Applicant:   Rock Ridge High School Athletic Booster Club (RRHSABC) Scholarship Application     Thank you for applying for one of the Rock Ridge High School Athletic Booster Club Athletic Scholarships.   Purpose   These Scholarships will be given each year to recognize the accomplishments of the eligible student-athletes who will be continuing their education at a university, college (community, junior or 4-year) or accredited trade school. Number of scholarships and amount   The awarding of scholarships is one of the primary missions of the RRHSABC. The number and amount of scholarships are subject to change from year to year. There are four scholarships (2 male/2 female) awarded each year for $1,000. The RRHSABC is proud of the ability to award these scholarships and thanks the active members and volunteers for their part in accomplishing this goal. Eligibility   Scholar Athlete of the Year (1 male/1 female): This scholarship is open to Seniors only.   Student or Parent must be a current member of the Rock Ridge Athletic Booster Club or must join the RRHSABC on or before April 1. Membership fee $25.00 You must have participated in (and completed in good standing) at least one season of a varsity VHSL sport at Rock Ridge High School (no exceptions.) You must be continuing your education at university, college (community, junior or four-year), or accredited trade school. You must have a cumulative, weighted grade point average of 3.8 or higher and provide a copy of your transcript. · You must complete the application and essay (350 words) Essay: What makes you a leader on the field AND in the classroom? Athlete of the Year (1 male/1 female):   Student or Parent must be a current member of the Rock Ridge Athletic Booster Club or must join the RRHSABC on or before April 1. Membership fee $25.00 You must have participated in (and completed in good standing) at least two seasons of a varsity VHSL sport at Rock Ridge High School (no exceptions.) You must be continuing your education at university, college (community, junior or four-year), or accredited trade school. · You must have a cumulative, weighted grade point average of 3.0 or higher and provide a copy of your transcript. You must complete the application and essay (350 words) Essay: How do you feel that participating in sports in high school will benefit you in the future?   ROCK RIDGE ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION     Please indicate which scholarship you are applying for: (You may apply for both. All submissions are subject to verification by the Athletic Director. Please include the following information: Level of Participation – Freshman, Junior Varsity, Varsity. Please indicate whether you lettered in a particular season (only Varsity players can receive a letter). Rock Ridge Weight Room Improvement Program:
Rock Ridge Weight Room Improvement Program:   Our weight room is in major need of more equipment.  We are looking to add more squat/bench racks, dumbbells, weights, cardio equipment, eliptigos for our athletes that are doing rehab, and more.  This money will benefit all of our student athletes as well as all of our physical education classes.  Please support us and make a donation to help improve our facility!!! Rock Ridge/Independence Eligibility FYI
A message from ROCK RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL The following summary is provided for students currently attending RRHS who have questions regarding transfer and eligibility for the 2019-2020 school year. Current RRHS 9th Grader (2018-2019) Current 9th grade students will be expected to attend their zoned school for the 2019-2020 school year. However, students may follow policy (School Board Policy 8-20 ) specific to applying for special permission and attending under-enrolled schools. Both RRHS and IHS will be under-enrolled for the 2019-2020 school year. VHSL Eligibility Current RRHS 9th grade students zoned for IHS will remain eligible for all VHSL activities/athletics. Likewise, current RRHS 9th grade students who receive special permission, through Policy 8-20, to remain at RRHS next year will also remain eligible for all VHSL activities/athletics. Current RRHS 9th grade students zoned for RRHS next fall (2019-2020 school year) will sit for 365 days if they apply for special permission to attend IHS. Transportation LCPS bus transportation is not provided for students who are granted have applied for special permission.   Current RRHS 10th Grader (2018-2019) Current 10th grade students, zoned to attend for IHS, can request to be ‘grandfathered’ to remain at RRHS.
